wow, who's this dork?

the scene is the doberman pinscher club of america's national specialty show held in fitchburg pa in october 1999. i was there displaying my papier mache sculptures of doberman pinscher dogs, among other things. you can see other vendors in the background.

in case you were wondering, i have attended these type of events in the past because they've been a great outlet to show the dog sculptures i so love to create. hey, ya gotta target your audience, right?

anyway, for whatever reason, this show was not as good to me (sales were uh, sloooow) as i had hoped, and by day four (yeah, i said four-these shows are long!) i was getting rather bored. and when this guy gets bored, well, lookout.

so, i decided to have a demonstration day. i got up early, found a hardware store, bought some supplies (hey, check out that apron!) and proceeded to make a substantial mess of my booth space. here i am with the chicken wire armature almost complete, i'm just taping up some areas of the wire to help with the smoothness of the piece. my intention was to do the thing in "one shot" (see windover demo), but with the attention i garnered during the project, i spent too much time talking to get as far as i wanted to.

by the way, a big thanks to don williamson for shooting the pics.
