| i
was at the new windhover center for the arts in fond du lac, wisconsin on
september 9th 2000 for their grand opening. the former masonic temple
was renovated with the help of corporate and individual donations. it is
beautiful.
i
was asked to do some kind of papier mache' demonstration for the event.
i had taught some classes on the medium to children over the summer.
I
thought the ideal thing to do would be to create some kind of "one
shot" piece, meaning papering the entire work at the one day
event. colored paper would be used as the final layer to eliminate
the need for painting...
the
subject matter -"art dog". a bulldog -type beast depicted
sitting down with a lot of character.
once
again i used chicken wire reinforced with nine gauge wire to withstand
abuse - i was anticipating some help from any children (or adults) who
felt like getting their hands messy.
art
dog is currently drying at windhover center for the arts, on sheboygan
street, in fond du lac, wisconsin. stop by if you're in the area!
