Go Fish!!

these are the pictures from the artist-in-residence program I did in October of 2005 at the paper Discovery Center in Appleton. the program was for very Special Arts.

This was kind of new. In the past, as you probably know, I constructed large wire armatures and groups of attendees slapped the glue-soaked paper over it. Which is a ton of fun, but then you're stuck with this big papier mache' sculpture. And, I been finding out that organizations can only stand a giant cow for so long, ya know?

So here we go with a smaller, individual piece that the attendees can take home with them. I still construct the armature ahead of time, but the papering is up to the artist (of course, some get a bit of assistance).

the fish are fun because there are no rules when it comes to color. as in the past, I brought a rainbow of different colored paper so we could avoid the need for painting-one stop art!

Anyway, here are the pics. Click on them to see a bigger version.

yes, everyone got into the act. even VSA staff members (last pictures)! Nice fish, Kathy!
