Last week, the tots, this week, the ‘seniors’ of the school-the fifth grade. I’m told this can be a rough bunch. I decide to risk it and go without the flak jacket-(just kidding!...)-I wore one. This piece is rather dramatic-a bald eagle landing on a rocky outcropping. I push the limits of practical scale (again) and make the armature taller than the reach of most any kid of fifth-grade age not headed to the NBA. Really good work effort by the students on this sculpture. Fifth graders talk about weird stuff. I  heard some bizarre ideas for science fiction stories. If one of these kids gets a shot in Hollywood, the movies of tomorrow will be… incomprehensible. And critically acclaimed.

Thank yous going out to the teachers: Barb Piatt, Laurie Pieper, Pam Yanagihashi and Josh Hoffer.
